I saw a couple other vids on this and one said it is a celebration dance & even considered to bring encounters with their god. I saw another though that claimed it’s originally a dance to find a marriage/mate partner. I think it’s off how overly sexualized it is in the US. I don’t remember seeing it in 90s hip hop dances but maybe I just don’t recall it being every where. Full discretion, I’m white, and it kind of bugs me that this is the dance most whites associate w modern African Americans when your break dance & swing dancing is so impressive.
